What is an import?

An import is the feature that allows you to bring in data usually from outside of the Equus Platform to either be added into the application or to update data already in the application. Imports do not support deletes and many of the imports cannot be undone.

When to import?

Depending upon your processes, imports might be something you use frequently or only once in a while.

Importing data is useful in cases of large volumes when it would be inefficient to manually input the values directly. Here are some examples of when imports may be used:

  • System integrations

  • Initial implementation data loads

  • Creating employee and assignment records from historical data

  • Refreshing vendor data tables to support calculations such as cost estimates

  • Updating exchange rates

  • Uploading bulk instructions such as salary increases, bonus payments

  • For special data sets - importing data into customized user tables

  • Migrating assignment record(s) from one employee record to another when two employee records have been created in error for an individual employee
