The General Info tab collects and displays the basic information needed to proceed with cost estimate calculation.

The majority are defaulted from data already captured in other areas of the Equus Platform as follows:

Description

The default description is the cost estimate template name followed by cost estimate creation date. This can be overwritten if required.

Template

The selected cost estimate template is defaulted to this input. Selection of the template can be from:

  • The Template lookup on the Cost Estimate screen

  • Assignment Authorization Wizard

  • Assignment Package

Select from the available options to override.

Effective Date

The default effective date is the cost estimate creation date. Overwrite the Effective date to align with the expected move date.

Effective Date is used to pull the relevant compensation elements into the cost estimate, e.g. effective date of 1 September will pull Base Salary effective on or after 1 September.

Home Family Size

Home Family Size is defaulted from the following (in order):

  1. Compensation Screen: Home Family Size value

  2. Authorization Wizard: number of Children/Dependents entered plus Employee Marital Status

  3. Family Information: The number of records entered on the Children & Dependents screen plus the Marital Status entered on the Employee screen.

and is used within Business Rules, Custom Calculations and by the Tax Engine for tax calculations.

It is also used to default the Filing Status and Dependents inputs (if applicable) on the Home Tax Estimator section of the Tax Calc Inputs tab.

Example 1

Home Family Size = 1

Marital Status = Single

>> Default Filing Status = Single

>> Default Dependents = 0

Example 2

Home Family Size = 2

Marital Status = Married

>> Default Filing Status = Married

>> Default Dependents = 0

Dependent Defaulting

For Single Marital Status, number of dependents is calculated as Home Family Size minus 1.

For Married Marital Status, number of dependents is calculated as Home Family Size minus 2.

Note: the tax engine does not count the spouse as a dependent.

Host Family Size

Home Family Size is defaulted from the following (in order):

  1. Compensation Screen: Host Family Size value

  2. Authorization Wizard: Family Size on Assignment value

  3. Family Information: The number of records entered on the Children & Dependents screen (excluding those with status of Not On Assignment) plus the Marital Status entered on the Employee screen.

  4. Authorization Wizard: number of Children/Dependents entered (excluding those with status of Not On Assignment) plus Employee Marital Status

The default logic for Host Filing Status and number of dependents is the same as for Home (see Home Family Size section above), except when Host Family Size = 1, in which case Filing Status on the Tax Calc Inputs tab defaults to Single (even if the employee's Marital Status = Married).

Data-entry Currency

This field defines the input currency for the cost estimate. Select from up to three available currencies:

  • Company

  • Home

  • Host

The Initial Base Salary currency defaults the Data-entry currency.

Select from available options to override defaulted currency. This will clear the Initial Base Salary defaulted value, and update the associated currency displayed beside the Initial Base Salary field.

Initial Base Salary

Initial Base Salary is defaulted from the amount entered in the Annual Base Pay field on the Compensation screen, provided that the Annual Base Pay currency is one of Company, Home or Host currency.

Marital Status

This field defaults from:

  1. Employee Screen: Marital Status value

  2. Spouse/Domestic Partner Screen: if completed

  3. Authorization Wizard: Employee Marital Status value

  4. Authorization Wizard: if Spouse/Domestic Partner information is input

The Marital Status field defaults the Filing Status inputs on the Tax Calc Inputs tab, with the following exceptions:

  • Host Filing Status defaults to Single when Host Family Size = 1.

  • Marital Status does not default Home or Host Filing Status when Home or Host Tax Filing Status inputs are populated.

Home and Host Tax Estimators

These inputs default from the following fields on the on the Mobility Details Screen or Authorization Wizard

  • Assignment From Country

  • Assignment From State/Province

  • Assignment To Country

  • Assignment To State/Province

Select from the lookup list to override defaulting.

Note: If Assignment From State/Province and/or Assignment To State/Province fields are left blank for USA, Canada or Switzerland, subauthority taxes will not calculate and tax costs may be understated.

Report Title

The Report Title defaults from the Report Title field on the Cost Estimate Template, and is displayed on the Cost Estimate (Years 1 – 6) Report. If Report Title field is blank on the Cost Estimate Template, the title defaults to INTERNATIONAL ASSIGNMENT COST ESTIMATE.

Input a title to override the default.

Type

The Type lookup can be used to categorize Cost Estimates into groups so that they can be summarized through user reports. The standard selection is <Other>.

This field can be hidden and disabled. New selections can be added via Lookup Maintenance.
