You can add extension costs by copying the original Cost Estimate and adding the extended period. Some manual manipulating will be required on the Cost Estimate Wizard as detailed below.
Additionally, certain duration based logic will alter the original assignment calculations. For example, if the extension lengthens the assignment beyond 60 months, the Automatic social security logic will not continue to calculate home contributions even if a totalization agreement is available. The estimator will calculate host social security because it assumes the assignment exceeds the agreement’s posted worker period and coverage is no longer available. You will need to change Social Tax Calculation Method to continue home country social security calculation. The selection will apply for all years of the new cost estimate.
Steps to copy an existing Cost Estimate to add an extension period:
1. From the Cost Estimates screen, find the original Cost Estimate and click [Copy].
2. The Copy Cost Estimate screen will display. Click [OK] without changing the Effective Date. If Effective Date is altered, line item costs may recalculate.
3. Navigate to the Line Items tab. Change the Number of Columns value to include the extended period and click [Save].
4. After the new columns are displayed, change Months in Host, Host Work Days and Home Work Days values as needed. The below screenshot displays the values before any changes have been made.
Below is a screenshot of the changes made to include a 12-month extension to the 24-month assignment. The Months in Host values for the 2019 and 2020 columns now show 12 and 8, respectively. Applying 20 work day for each month, the Host Work Days values are changed to 240 and 160 for the two columns and the Home Work Days values to 0 and 80.
