What is DDMO and how is it used?

DDMO (data dictionary metadata override) allows advanced Equus Platform users to hide, lock, rename, and customize individual field properties globally or by client and user type

DDMO (data dictionary metadata override) is an override specific to field metadata. Advanced users in the Equus Platform have the ability to hide, lock and rename individual fields in the system either globally or on a client by client basis by user type. This can be achieved by navigating to the screen where the field is held and appending “&mode=ddmo” to the URL. This will cause tags to appear next to each field. Hover over the tags for the Database Field Name to appear. Using DDMO is a useful way to field names when attempting to access these fields within reports.

Clicking on a tag will launch a popup window where the override can be set.

The following fields can be edited:

Override Type: Select if the override is to apply at a system level or company level.

User Type: Select from the drop down if the override is to apply to a specific type of user e.g. External Client, External Employee, Internal, Vendor, etc.

Override Level: Select if the override is to apply to All Pages or just to the Page the field is on.

Override Caption: New field caption name that appears on screen instead of the System Caption.

Visible: when the checkbox is ticked, the field is visible. Untick the checkbox to hide a field.

Required: when the checkbox is ticked, the system forces users to update the field prior to saving the record.

Read Only: when the checkbox is ticked, no edits can be made to the field. Untick the checkbox to make the field editable.

Below is an example where an override has been made to the ASSIGNMENT!NUMBER database field.

Any fields with an override will appear with a red tag.

Things to note when using this feature

  • In most areas of AssignmetnPro, to use the feature add &mode=ddmo to the end of the URL in the browser address bar and hit the Return key.

  • When using DDMO with Authorizations or other windows that do not allow data entry into the address bar, copy the address to a new browser window and type &mode=ddmo to the end of the URL

  • Changing the name of the field using the Override Caption field does not override the field's actual name. When accessing fields in a report, use the field's actual name from the Database Field Name (e.g. ASSIGNMENT!NUMBER) using DDMO.

  • Use the Custom Field screen instead of DDMO to update the caption and field parameters/
