Overview

Tax Position Overrides at the Assignment Level allow for overrides of tax position sets. This means Cost Estimates and Compensation Calculations will use these set override values for the tax inputs.

Users can also select which cost estimate and compensation calculation templates that overrides will be applied to or not. These will be applied during initial creation of Cost Estimates and/or Compensation Calculation including creation via an Assignment Package and Assignment Package batches. This solves for cases where manual adjustments are necessary.

The screen will provide the following setting overrides:

  • Country Selection: While users can view the country, they cannot edit it. This is controlled by a data dictionary override by default. Note - We highly recommend not removing this override in the data dictionary override.

  • Tax Filing Status

  • Tax Position Set - All settings related to tax position allow overrides based on the to/from location (including home work for frontier worker)

  • Calculate Social Tax

  • Dependents

Security

The screen is hidden by default. To use this feature, access and update screen rights should be added via the security roles screen.

Settings

Overrides from the Tax Position Overrides page will show on the Cost Estimates and Compensation Calculations in the Tax Calc Inputs Tab.

To reset overrides being used, you can click

to reset values. Note, once values are reset, you cannot undo the action.

Note, that overrides apply to various tax position set types, including those used for Frontier Workers and the Host Gross To Net tax calculations.

Exceptions

To select which cost estimate and compensation calculation templates that overrides will be applied to the 'Template Exceptions' should be configured.

This allows you to limit if the overrides apply to all Cost Estimate and Compensation Calculation templates or only certain templates. Use the Add/Remove buttons and 'Apply Tax Position Overrides to all' checkboxes to either:

  • Apply to all templates

  • Apply to all except certain templates

  • Apply to only certain templates

  • Apply to no templates

The setting acts the same way to both Cost Estimate and Compensation Calculation templates:

  • Cost Estimate

  • Compensation Templates

Help text for Tax Inputs are also included in this screen.

Things to Note

  • In the Tax Calc Input tab, Tax Positions that have a dollar sign with hover text ‘Comp Calc’ means this override applies to both apply to Cost Estimates and Compensation Calculations.

  • This is not supported in Cost Estimate and Compensation batches as well as when the Cost Estimate and Compensation copy buttons are used.

  • For overrides set for a Third Country National, this will include the Third Country National - Country section at the bottom of the screen. The country is set to United States and state is set to null

  • For overrides set for Home Company Overrides, this will include the Home Company Override - Country section at the bottom of the screen. The details will follow the configured country and currency for Home Company Override at the company details.
