Creating a New Tax Position Set
When your tax policy differs from the Baseline sets, users can change the default country-specific tax settings defined by copying a pre-existing Tax Position Set.
Note: Baseline Tax Position Sets cannot be edited (as these are available to all clients and maintained by Equus).
New Tax Position Sets can be created at the system or the company level by copying an existing Tax Position Set and overriding the tax position values. To override a tax position set, click on the plus icon to copy an existing tax position set and then edit it.
In the Create New Tax Position Set By field, select either:
Overriding a System Tax Position Set; or
Overriding a Company Tax Position Set
Then in the Tax Position Set To Override field, select the appropriate set to copy.
Note: If Overriding a Company Tax Position Set is selected and the new Tax Position Set is created at the system level, you must also select a Company to Override From.
Customizing a New Tax Position Set
Name: Specify a unique name for the tax position set. This is the name that will appear in the Tax Position Set dropdown field on the Template screen.
Description: Specify a brief description. The description will appear adjacent to the Tax Position Set Name.
Inactive: The Tax Position Set must be active for it to be available for selection on the Compensation or Cost Estimate Template. Check the Inactive box to remove it as an available option.
Tax Position Set Items
The Tax Position Set Items displays every available authority-specific tax input, alongside the Default Value. Change the Default Value as appropriate to customize the new tax position set.
Authority: The tax authority a tax position is applicable for.
Location: Indicates whether the tax position default value applies when the authority is Home or Host.
Comp Calcs: All listed tax positions apply to Cost Estimates. A dollar symbol is displayed for tax positions that are also applicable to Compensation Calculations (i.e. tax positions that impact hypothetical taxes).
Input Name: The name of the tax position, as displayed on the Tax Calc Inputs tab of the Cost Estimate, or the Calculation Inputs tab of the Compensation Calculation.
Default Value: The displayed value will default when a Cost Estimate or Compensation Calculation is created.
Note: Default values which have been changed from the Equus Baseline set will appear with blue highlighting.
or
Set the position as visible or not visible when creating a Cost Estimate or Compensation Calculation.
or
Set the position as locked or unlocked when creating a Cost Estimate or Compensation Calculation. When set to locked, the value cannot be edited on the Cost Estimate or Compensation Calculation screen.
Note: If a default value is not set, the input cannot be marked as not visible or locked.
