The Tax Service Eligibility Rules screen allows for the creation and maintenance of rules at a company level that can automatically be applied to assignments via the
button on the Tax Services Eligibility page or via Quick Workflow configuration (see below). Records can also be recalculated by the button/quick workflow if an assignments length changes. In the case of Permanent Transfer Assignments, rules can only be configured for years prior to the assignment start date and a specified number of years after the assignment start date.
Note - Tax Service Eligibility Rules are only applicable to International Assignments and Permanent Transfer Assignments. The rules will not apply for Business Traveler assignments.
On the Tax Service Rules Eligibility page, the start date on which the rules should apply can be selected in the Tax Service Eligibility Settings section. To allow the configured rules to be applicable from the assignment Effective Date, mark the check box and click
.

to add a new Tax Service Eligibility Rule. On the Tax Services Eligibility Details screen, select the required fields, select any supplemental fields, and click

to edit a Tax Service Eligibility Rule.

Important fields on this screen include:
Description: The identifying name given to the rule.
Inactive: When checked, the rule is no longer active and will not be applied to assignments.
Tax Service: The service for which the rule applies.
Country: The field will display the ‘Host’, ‘Home’, and ‘Other’. When ‘Other’ is selected, another field, Other Country, will display and give a list of all active countries.
Rule Type: Displays the type of years for which the rule applies. Based on the option selected, additional conditional fields may appear.
When the Rule Type is ‘Year(s) of Assignment’, the following additional options will appear:
All Years of Assignment: When selected, the rule will apply to all years between the Start Date and End Date of an assignment. When this is selected, the Number of Years, Years from Assignment Start, and Years before Assignment End fields will be hidden.
When Number of Years is entered, either the Years from Assignment Start or Years before Assignment End option must be selected.
When the Rule Type is ‘Post Year’, the Number of Years field is required. The rule will apply to the specified number of years after the assignment end date. When selected, records are also created for post assignment end dates.
When the Rule Type is ‘Prior Year’, the Number of Years field is required. The rule will apply to the specified number of years before the assignment start date.
Status: A defined list of standings for the eligibility record.
Comments: a free-form field where additional information can be added about the specific record. This information is also displayed on the Tax Service Eligibility main dashboard by hovering over the records’ Tax Year.
To add specific conditions to the rule, click
and configure the rule for the appropriate limiting fields.
