APPENDIX J – Using ORC Data
Supported ORC Calculations
The following ORC Calculations are supported:
ORC Danger Pay
ORC G+S Differential
ORC G+S Spendable
ORC Hardship Allowance
ORC Home Country Housing Norm
ORC Hypo SS Tax
ORC Hypo Tax
ORC Hypo SS Tax (Custom Calculation)
ORC Hypo Tax (Custom Calculation)
The following calculations are implemented as custom calculations. These calculations are delivered with the system but can be added with the help of a Equus Client Account Executive or Account Manager
ORC Hypo SS Tax
ORC Hypo Tax
Both ORC Hypo SS Tax calculations and both ORC Hypo Tax calculations will calculate the exact same amount when the same ORC data is used. The differences are (1) that the custom version of this calculation allows the Home Location Type to be selected while still using the Get Latest Version feature and (2) the custom version is not supported by the standard ORC Hypo Tax import.
Recalculating the ORC G&S Index utilizing the current exchange rate
There is a system preference available that will instruct the compensation worksheet logic to recalculate an ORC Goods & Services Index utilizing the exchange rate that is being used on the compensation worksheet. If the compensation worksheet is using an exchange rate other than the one provided by ORC, the system will multiply the G&S Index provided by ORC by the exchange rate provided by ORC, and then divide that value by the exchange rate being used by the compensation worksheet. The result of this calculation will be displayed in the Adjusted Tabled G&S Index field in the ORC Inputs section of the compensation worksheet details screen. The G&S Index Used field will indicate the index being used by the calculation.
Allow Negative G&S Differential for Mercer, ORC & AIRINC compensation calculations
There is a system preference available at both the system and company level that will allow the user to allow a negative Goods and Services Differential amount. When this system preference is turned off, if the ORC G&S Differential calculation result is negative then the amount will be adjusted to 0. When turned on, the amount will not be adjusted. This preference is used by comp worksheets & cost estimates. The default is No.
ORC Single Home Housing Norm Includes Family of 2 System Preference
There is a system preference available at both the system and company level that will allow the user to determine what Family Size number constitutes Single and Family. If the system preference is set to Yes a Family Size of 1 and 2 will use the Single ORC Home Housing Norm indexes in the ORC Home Country Housing Norm calculation. Any Family Size larger than 2 will use the Family ORC Home Housing Norm indexes in the ORC Home Country Housing Norm calculation. If the system preference is set to No then a Family Size of 1 will use the Single indexes and a Family Size of 2 or larger will use the Family indexes.
Use Host Family Size for ORC Home Norm Calculation System Preference
There is a system preference available at both the system and company level that will allow the user to determine if the Host Family Size or the Home Family Size should be used in the ORC Home Country Housing Norm calculation. If the system preference is set to Yes the Host Family Size will be used for the ORC Home Country Housing Norm calculation. If the system preference is set to No the Home Family Size will be used for the ORC Home Country Housing Norm calculation.
Setting the System Preference
This system preference has been made available to the system preference screens at both the system and company levels. Its name is “Adjusted Tabled G&S Index for Comp Worksheets”. If it is set to yes at the system or company level, this special logic will be turned on. The screen section below is an example of the system preference setting at the company override level.
Selecting an Exchange Rate Method
If Lookup or Manually Entered is selected instead of Data Provider Provided for the Exchange Rate Method, this special calculation will utilized. The screen section below contains an example where Manually Entered has been selected as the Exchange Rate Method.
Viewing the Adjusted Index and the Index Used
The ORC Inputs section of the Compensation Worksheet screen will display the Adjusted Tabled G&S Index as well as the G&S Index Used.
