General Details (Policy)

This articles explains the details found under the General Tab of the Assignment/Relocation Policy and things to note on configuring this

Specify the details for the policy on the General Tab. Fields on this screen include:

  • Name - The name of the policy (Note a character Limit of 100 characters)

  • External Name - The external name of the policy as displayed on Portals (Note a character Limit of 100 characters)

  • Number - The system number for the policy

  • Policy Type - Select either <Assignment> or <Candidate>

  • Mobility Type (Standardized) - The mobility type associated to the policy

  • Is Core Flex - Sets if the policy is a Core Flex policy

  • Authorization Override Profile - You can specify a profile here if required

  • Expense Report Template - designates which expense template will be provided to the employee via the Employee Portal.

  • Assignment Extension Approval Ruleset - Sets the ruleset used for Assignment Extensions

  • Policy Field Exception Approval Ruleset - Sets the ruleset used for any Policy Field Exceptions

  • Policy Description – HTML Capable box which stores text in HTML format and displays Policy details on the Client Portal

  • Global Employment Company - Check to indicate that this policy relates to a Global Employment Company (GEC). This setting, when used in combination with having a Cost Estimate Template with the Home Tax Estimator Method set to "Company Home Tax Estimator Overrides", will allow the specified location to appear on the Tax Position Overrides screen to allow overrides to specific tax inputs for that location.
    The Cost Estimate Template configuration works for both standard Cost Estimates and What‑If Cost Estimates, ensuring consistent behavior and flexibility across both scenarios.

Once you have completed entering the details, click save to confirm the details.

Things to Note

  • If an Assignment does not have a Mobility Type, the field will be populated using the value of Mobility Type (Standardized)

  • The following Mobility Types can be selected in the Mobility Type (Standardized) field;

    • Long Term Assignment - An Employee who moves to a new working location for a specified period by the Employer on a long-term basis (typically over 12 months), with an agreement to return to the home country at the end of the assignment period.

    • Short Term Assignment - An Employee who moves to a new working location for a specified period by the Employer on a short-term (typically under 12 months), with an agreement to return to the home country at the end of the assignment period.

    • Rotator - Employees who work in remote offshore or onshore locations for extended periods of time, they "rotate" between periods of work at this location and periods of rest back home - e.g. 28 days on 28 days off

    • Commuter - An Employee who works in 2 or more countries / jurisdictions, either domestically or internationally.

    • Domestic Assignment - An Employee who moves to a new working location within their home country for a specified period by the Employer, with an agreement to return to the home location at the end of the assignment period.

    • Localization - An Employee who was previously an assignee, transitioning to becoming a permanent local employee in the host location. Usually involves a phase out of their expatriate benefits

    • Project Worker - An Employee who works on a project and away from the location of employment domestically or internationally on a temporary basis and for a limited duration.

    • Graduate Program - An Employee who is assigned to a new working location for a temporary period as part of a graduate training program.

    • Domestic Relocation - An Employee who moves permanently to a new location within their home country with no intention of returning to the original location. Employment in the original location is typically terminated and the employee is employed by the employer in the new location.

    • International Relocation - An Employee who moves permanently to a new location in a new country with no intention of returning to the home location. Employment in the home location is typically terminated and the employee is employed by the employer in the new location.

    • International New Hire - A non-local candidate who is hired from outside the country of employment to work permanently in the employing location.

    • International Remote Work - An Employee who works from another International location which is different from the location of employment by personal request. Typically on a temporary basis.

    • Domestic Remote Work - An Employee who works from another location in the same country which is different from the location of employment by personal request. Typically on a temporary basis.

    • Immigration Only - Employees who require immigration assistance even when they are not entitled to other mobility benefits.

    • Business Trip - An Employee who travels domestically or internationally to carry out work in another location other than the location of employment for business. Typically very short term in duration.

    • Multiple - A policy that belongs to more than one Mobility Type
