APPENDIX N – Retrieve Compensation Calc Line Item Value
Compensation Calculation – Retrieve Compensation Calc Line Item Value
This feature allows for users to run Compensation Calculations (Simple Comp) and then have the ability to pull those values into a Compensation Worksheet Line Item for Compensation processing.
The set-up for this feature will need to happen on both the Compensation Calculation template and at the Compensation Dictionary Line Item Level.
First it should be set-up on the Dictionary Line Item screen by adding a new dictionary line item at the company or system level.
A new Type can be set-up if desired or one that has already been created can be utilized. It will be used to match up with on the compensation calculation line item. A new calculation titled Retrieve Compensation Calc Line Item Value will also be need to be chosen in order for any values to pulled over upon a line item match.
When a value is selected from the Calculation drop down list, a navigational link
is displayed which takes the user to the Calculation Definition screen for the selected calculation. No link will be displayed if the selected calculation is not editable on the Calculations page, for example when it is a stored procedure.
Once a dictionary line item has been created and saved, templates at the Compensation Calculation and Compensation Worksheet need to be set-up before running any calculations. If compensation calculation templates have been previously created, then the line items can be edited to choose a matching Comp Worksheet Line Item Type.
At the Compensation Calculation line item level a new field titled Comp Worksheet Line Item Type has been added to assist in the matching process as mentioned previously for Dictionary Line Items.
Once added and saved to a Compensation Calculation Template, a Compensation Worksheet Assignment Template using the previously created Dictionary Line Item needs be created before running calculations on both sides to pull the desired value into a Compensation Worksheet Line Item on an Effective Comp Worksheet.
When adding these type of line items that were created at the Dictionary level, a custom field input will appear under the screen under Amount Adjustment sections. This gives the user the opportunity to choose (if there is more than one) which Compensation Calculation to pull the value from for that assignment. On the Compensation Calculation side when running a calculation (next in the process), an effective date will need to be either active on the first date of the pay period or before or saved as the primary in order to pull over a value into a Comp Worksheet Line Item.
Once both templates have been created and saved, a Compensation Calculation (Simple Comp) will want to be run first to create the value that will be pulled onto the Comp Worksheet Line Item.
Once completed and saved, the user will want to run an Effective Comp Worksheet based on the Assignment Template that was previously set-up and verify that the value pulled across correctly based on how it was set-up. For line items that were not set-up as a one-time payment, that value brought over is assumed to be an annual number and divided by the number of pay periods within the year. This will reflect a smaller number than what is shown on the Compensation Calculation, so it is imperative to take that number and divide by the number pay periods to verify the number was pulled over correctly.
