A precondition rule is a special type of rule that can be tied to other rules, acting as a precondition to those. Precondition rules will be audited first by the rules engine acting as a first validation before actually evaluating the rule it is tied to.

The setup of a precondition rule is similar to that of a rule which can also use Business Rules. The key difference is that the Precondition Rule checkbox is ticked. When the checkbox is ticked, the Automatically Approved and Automatically Rejected fields are hidden and not required.
